Curl PEI Junior Development Program

Application

The 2025/26 Curl PEI Junior Development Program (JDP) aims to assist PEI curlers with their daily training and preparation demands as they strive to reach their goals at the provincial, national and international levels.

The Junior Development Program is geared to support individual curlers who have set performance goals for themselves, can demonstrate their dedication and commitment to the upcoming season and meet or exceed a skill standard set by Curl PEI. Curlers are required to to apply and be tested during, at least, one of the designated times. From those who apply and meet or exceed the standard during testing, up to 16 curlers will be invited to join the JDP for the season.

The JDP is intended for curlers aged 13-21 who are planning to compete in the Curl PEI U15, U18, Juniors and/or Mixed Doubles Curling Championships in the 2025/26 season. The JDP is open to application on an individual basis, however teams are encouraged to have all team members apply in order to maximize the potential access to resources. Application will open open on August 22, 2025 and close on September 16, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered. All applicants will be asked to select 1 or 2 testing times.

All participants who accept invitations to the JDP will follow a curriculum created by Curl PEI Performance Director, Peter Gallant.  Peter and a team of instructors will offer 10 ice times, for 2 hours per session. The on-ice sessions included video analysis, delivery, sweeping, weight control, strategy, and introduction to mixed doubles.  There will also be off-ice sessions throughout the season covering strength and conditioning, nutrition, and mental performance.
